Nelson Surf Life Saving Club

  • Nelson Surf Life Saving Club

Surf Life Saving Clubs have a long tradition on New Zealand beaches, more than 100 years in fact, of being focused on service first, by making the beaches safer and then celebrating and competing in the skills they have refined during their training.

Nelson has always had a busy water sport lifestyle, and the club has a long history of responding to the water safety needs of the region. The club provides Saturday afternoon and Sunday patrols at Tahunanui Beach over the summer period; and operate a 24 hour, 7 day a week, search and rescue squad for fast response to emergencies in the inshore areas of Tasman Bay and estuaries.

To develop our member’s lifeguarding skills; we offer training and courses for their skills and fitness. Training programs include sea swims, surf ski paddling and Nippers. Courses offered include first aid, radio use, and IRB Crew and Driver.

When approached by the Nelson Surf Life Saving Club to re develop its existing website we jumped at the chance. We saw this as an opportunity to help a community based organisation to improve their service and possibly make things easier for them. We took a open minded look at their current website and after initial meetings started working on a new WordPress based website that would cater better to their needs. The website needed to be responsive and capable of being used on a mobile phone. It also needed to have an intuitive user interface to cater for a wide ranging target audience. The site was setup to be a hub for forms, course information, guidelines and access to the large national life saving portal. Using the great content that was provided to us we developed the website that you see to day.

Thanks to Marcus and Stuart at NSLSC for employing NZTEC to create your club website.
